Water Levels in Jhelum Drop Down Drastically- Rainfall Predicted from August 26

Poor rains this season have led to water shortage in many areas of the Kashmir valley and water level in Jhelum has also dropped significantly, The temperature is breaking decades long records of going up by several notches.

All major rivers across the Kashmir valley have gone almost dry, including the Waishow, Bringi, Rambi Ara, Jhelum and various others, as the season continues to witness massive heat and a dry spell.

Amid this rise in temperature, the valley witnessed moderate to light rainfalls from June 1 to August 24, Jammu Kashmir recorded 245.1 mm of rains against the normal of 424.0mm, with a massive dip of 42% deficient rains.

Now, Kashmir Weather has predicted widespread rains in upcoming days which may drop rain deficiency to some extent.

Moderate to heavy rain/thundershowers and lightning are likely to occur over most places of Jammu Kashmir on 26 and 27 August, Isolated to scattered rains are also possible on 25 and 28 August.

There is also a possibility of landslides on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway, with a slight possibility of light snowfall over some higher reaches.
