The residents of Mondhole village area Devsar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district are facing scarcity of potable water for the last few days, locals alleged today.

Blaming the Jal Shaki department for ignoring their plight, the residents demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances.

The residents said that acute water scarcity has hit their village in the last few days while the officials are paying no heed to their sufferings. “Over 200 households are without drinking water facility due to which locals are facing immense hardships,” Asif Ahmad, a local resident told.

We are being deprived of water facility and despite repeated requests, the concerned department nor the administration is bothered to sort our hardships,” said another resident Ghulam Nabi.

Meanwhile, the residents appealed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam and other concerned authorities resolve the issue at the earliest.

Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Jal Shakti department Qazigund, Mohd Rafiq told that the reason for the water shortage in the village is due to the sudden dried up of springs in the village, adding that we are on job to resolve the issue within days.
