On the ninth episode of Straightforward- a public talk show hosted by Aniqa from The Kashmiriyat representatives of various political parties spoke on the issue of the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, which granted special status to Jammu Kashmir.

Saifudin Soz, a veteran congress leader welcoming the formation of people’s alliance said that the people of Kashmir have found an ‘instrument’ and they can support the alliance till they voice the feelings and aspirations of common masses in Kashmir.
“People in Kashmir irrespective of their ideologies must understand that they have “found a voice in People’s Alliance and also the fact that they have very less options and instrument left.”
Soz also castigated the Modi led government of lying to the common masses about his arrest and said the apex court must have summoned me and clarified about my detention. The senior congress leader said that he speaks on the behalf of Kashmiris and not the Congress party.
“The brutality of the BJP Government will not work in Kashmir, we will fight against the cultural oppression. Kashmir is the only state that did not merge with India, it acceded to India, The base of our relation is Article 370, if it is abrogated, the relation does not remain constitutional,” Soz said.
Vijay Raina, a BJP Spokesman said that BJP is against the People’s alliance as they had major share in the violence caused in the state before the Abrogation of Article 370. Now the situation in the valley is peaceful and is moving in the direction of development. “We are afraid that the present situation might be disrupted by them.”
The regional groups in Kashmir have always exploited the people and used the bloodshed for their own political benefits. He said that though BJP was in coalition with PDP in 2016 when more than 100 people were killed but it was Mehbooba Mufti who was running the show.
The BJP spokesperson dodged the questions on employement,sand extraction and other daily issues.
Speaking on the show Masroor Ansari, Hurriyat leader, said that Articles 370 and 35A were never on their agenda. “We always wanted the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.
The issue has three stakeholders and that is accepted by the global community along with the UN.”
Responding to another question on the ongoing silence of Hurriyat leadership Ansari said “Hurriyat leadership has been put under detention and their movements have been restricted.”
Najam u Saqib, the PDP Spokesman said that the party will not bow down to the dictation of the Right-Wing Forces while expressing the stance of party to remain unchanged with the National Flag issue. “The BJP is just using its old politics to win its votes, the People’s Alliance is not Anti National but we will always be Anti BJP,” Saqib said.
