We Stand Together and Will Protest Till Article 370 is not Restored, Says Farooq Abdullah

Farooq Abdullah

National conference president and Former CM, Dr Farooq Abdullah said that the mainstream parties in Kashmir stand together for the restoration of special status of Jammu Kashmir.

Dr Abdullah said that the promises of development from the center are void, there has been no development post August 5. “The center is trying to bring a demographic change in Jammu Kashmir, which is totally wrong, we will protest against it” added Abdullah.

On being asked about Ghulam Nabi Azad’ s meeting with the PM for the restoration of statehood to Jammu Kashmir , Dr Abdullah said, “he talked to Azad on phone after the meeting had already happened and that Ghulam Nabi Azad has put some 5 points before the PM, one important point being the restoration of the special status of JK.”

Dr Abdullah, on talking about the pandemic said, “ I pray to God that this pandemic ends soon, “ People have to be strong, we will fight together our problems, we will fight constitutionally for the special status”, he added.

Talking about the political prisoners languishing in jails, Farooq Abdullah said that they are waiting for leaders to be released. “ we had issued the Gupkar declaration before the abrogation and we will protest the unconstitutional abrogation of the article after the leaders, who signed the declaration, are released”.

It is pertinent to mention here  that the Gupkar Declaration signed on 4 August by Pro-India political parties stated that they will stand united in their resolve ‘to protect and defend the identity, autonomy and special status of JK’ and stand  against the ‘trifurcation of the state and unconstitutional delimitation’. The declaration was signed by 18 leaders from 7 political parties, NC, PDP, JKPC, Congress, CPIM, PUF and ANC.

The Indian state had put a massive  crackdown on the Kashmiri political leaders, arresting and booking them under PSA.
