Will boycott trade incase Indian govt. continues restrictions and violence on muslims: Bahraini lawmaker

In a video that’s doing rounds on Twitter, Bahraini lawmaker Abdul Razzaq Hattab can be seen criticizing atrocities against muslims in India. Going by the date mentioned in the video itself, it appears that the speech was made on November 2, 2021.

Hattab says in his speech that the international trade operations between Bahrain and India exceeded $105 Billion, annually. And in the contrary, “Muslims in India, particularly in Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, suffer from violence abuse and systematic killings” as well as “usage of persecutory practices and restricting of their rights, freedom and religious practices.”

Evacuation of muslims from Assam had started since the Bharatiya Janata Party ruled the region in 2016, where more than 20 thousand muslims were evacuated, Hattab said.

He also said that “these practices were against International laws and Abrahamic religion,” also adding that these practices also “contradicted with humanity and the country’s obligation to provide the safety of its citizens and their freedom regardless of their religion and beliefs.”

Hattab went on to say, “We, sincerely, announce our dissatisfaction and concern as muslims around the globe.”

“Against the unjustified violence Indian muslims are undergoing, we also announce that we strongly stand with respect of Islam and the 150 million muslims of India,” Hattab declared.

He also warned that “In case the Indian government continues their restrictions and violence on muslims, we are announcing we will go severe action, including trade boycott.”

Hattab said that they tried communicating with the Indian ambassador multiple times in Bahrain, “to send our message to his government. However, he was making unjustified excuses.”

“I, hereby, hold Islamic countries from east to west and human agencies the accountability of our brothers in India. And we will all be judged on the judgement day when we stand in front of Allah,” he said.

“May Allah be with Indian muslims, may Allah be with you, may Allah be with you,” he concluded his speech.

It is pertinent to mention that India was also enlisted amongst countries recommended for “Countries of particular concern,” in the United States Commission On International Religious Freedom’s (USCIRF) annual report for the year 2021, released earlier in April this year.
