
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that the winter games and Jammu Kashmir have turned out a synonym now and that the administration will ensure better facilities for the participants of Khelo India Edition 4 to make the sports event memorable for all.
The Lt Governor also launched Logo and Mascot for Khelo India Winter Games 2024.
As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sinha while speaking on the occasion, said that for the whole country, winter games means J&K as the winter games and J&K have become synonyms now.
“In this event, the administration will work hard to make every possible arrangement for the participants,” he said, adding that in the last four years, a new atmosphere in the field of sports has been in J&K.
“From 3 lakh, the number of participants in the sports events have increased to 60-65 lakh,” he said, adding that the sports departments and the council have worked hard to make this achievement possible.
“In the past 7-8 years, the youngsters in the field of sports are making the nation proud at the national as well as the international level,” he said.
Jammu Kashmir, he said, is celebrating such events as festivals. “I assure the people that the administration will make every possible facility to make the event memorable for all,” he added.
Moreover, he said that the Mascot for the Winter Games, Snow Leopard, is the symbol of Himalaya’s natural heritage and reflects the commitment of the government towards the protection and preservation of wildlife.
Pertinently, the fourth edition of Khelo India is slated to commence from February 02-06—(KNO)
