Woman killed, Another injured in cross-border shelling in Uri Kashmir

One woman was killed and another injured on Thursday following cross-border shelling in the Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

According to officials, a civilian vehicle traveling from Razerwani to Baramulla came under shellfire near Mohura. The shell struck the vehicle, resulting in the death of Nargis Begum, wife of Basheer Khan, a resident of Razerwani.

Another woman, identified as Hafeeza, wife of Razeek Ahmad Khan, sustained injuries in the incident and was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla for treatment.

A health official at GMC Baramulla confirmed the fatality and the injury.

Cross-border shelling in the region, particularly along areas in Uri and Kupwara, has intensified over the past few days, raising concerns among residents and authorities alike.
