Woman Killed over cattle Grazing issue in Srinagar, Accused Arrested, Says Police

Jammu Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have arrested a man for killing a woman in Harwan area of Srinagar.

In a statement, police said that on September 26, Police Station Harwan received a complaint from one person identified as Mohammed Taj Awan, son of Mohd Younis Awan, a resident of Badwan Rajouri, at present Danihama near Chandpora Bridge Harwan alleging that his mother identified as Subza Begum, wife of Mohammed Younis Awan, a resident of Badwan Rajouri, had home for grazing goats at around 05:00 pm and some unknown person had hit her on the head causing injuries which subsequently led to her death.

Accordingly, a case FIR No 74/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Harwan and investigation was taken up.

Later, police started rounding up suspects and questioning witnesses in the instant case. Based on statements of witnesses, questioning of suspects as well as technical evidence.

Police apprehended one accused person identified as Ghulam Jeelani Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohd Bhat, a resident of Danihama Harwan involved in the commission of a crime.
