Hours after the encounter, a family from the Batengoo area of Khanabal in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district was called and told that their son who had been missing for the past four days had been killed during the encounter.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, a family member of the slain said that the family members of Mohammed Imran Dar son of Abdul Quyoom Dar have been called to Handwara to participate in his last rites.

“The head of the Batengoo village got the photograph of the slain and it took the family by surprise as we felt that he could have never had any links with Militancy whatsoever,” the family member said.

He said that the family members including his father and siblings were on the way to North Kashmir to participate in the last rites of Imran.

Meanwhile, a large number of mourners reached Imran’s house to express solidarity with the family of the slain. The news has struck the family hard and most of the residents are awe-struck and in complete disbelief of the news.
