Umar Ahad son of Ab Ahad kumar resident of Pinjura shopian was the eleventh civilian who became victim of government forces in year 2018.
Umar a 9th class student at government high school Pinjura shopian was killed at turkwangam on Wednesday evening during clashes where militants escaped after a brief exchange of fire.
Police says that Umar was killed during cross firing however family and eyewitnesses said that he was targeted.
Mohd Ashraf kumar, brother of slain minor in conversation with The Kashmiriyat said that "after offering Asar Nimaz (Pre dusk prayers), news spread in shopian area that militants have been killed in Turkwangam and Umar along with his 15 friends went to take part in funeral of slain militants".
Mudasir Ahmed, friend of Umar said that " on hearing that cordon hasn't been lifted yet in the area, we stayed in an orchard that about 3 kms from an encounter site".
"Soon clashes erupted in the area where we were staying and we tried to move to a safer place from where we can got back home, however forces from an orchard targeted us and Umar got bullet injuries in his chest and shoulder", Mudasir added.
"We tried our level best to save our friend but on reaching dist hospital shopian, doctors declared him dead" he added.
Ashraf professionally a cook and brother of slain minor told The Kashmiriyat that they heard the shocking news of the death of Umar around 7 pm.
Umar was belonging to economically weak family and has left behind parents ,3 brothers and 5 sisters, all elder to him. Among them one brother and two sisters are married.
Ashraf told The Kashmiriyat that "I don't believe that this dispute will be solved through any dialogue as all the dialogues since 90's have failed to solve this issue".
"In my opinion there is only one solution to solve this dispute that is gun solution and dialogue is a futile exercise", his father added.
He added that "the atrocities of government forces are pushing youth to pick up guns and every day dozens are arrested and hundreds are thrashed".
"To every action there is equal and opposite reaction, the more forces will use forces, the more youth will take up arms" he told The Kashmiriyat.
"I don't believe that situation will become peaceful here till forces will change their strategy of arresting and pushing youth to militancy,"he added.
Pertinently umar was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard after 6 rounds of funeral prayers in which thousands of people participated.
As per eyewitnesses, umar was wrapped in his school uniform before being laid to rest.
Notably Umar was 11th civilian of District Shopian who was killed by government forces this year.
On 27 January two civilians namely Javaid Ahmed and Suhail Ahmed were killed by government forces when army fired on a group of protesters.
Later one more among the injured namely Rayees Ahmed a 19 year old youth also succumbed to his injuries at skims on January 31.
On March 04, four civilians were killed by army under uncertain circumstances. Army called them over ground workers however it fails to hold ground as this claim was refuted by their families as well as friends and locals.
They were identified as Suhail khalil of Pinjura, Mohammad Shahid khan of Malik gund, Shahnawaz wagay of Langandoora Trenz and Gowhar Ahmed lone of Moolu Chitragam.
On Ist April, Mushtaq Ahmed thoker son of Gh Mohammad thoker resident of sugan was killed at encounter site by government forces where seven local militants were also Killed.
On same day, Mohammad Iqbal bhat son of Manzoor Ahmed bhat resident of Khasipora shopian was killed near encounter site kachdoora, where two more civilians of Kulgam dist and five local militants were also killed.
On 11 April a minor namely Fazil alahi of Melhoora shopian was killed near encounter site Khudwani along with 3 other civilians of Kulgam district.
