The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Tuesday postponed annual examination of 10th standard of Vocational Subjects slated on March-07. The board said that the vocational examination slated on March-07 in soft zones shall be held on April-04. Prominent Pahadi writer Nazar Bonyari passes away

Renowned Pahari and Urdu writer Raja Nazar Bonyari has passed away at the age of 77 in Mumbai, where he was undergoing treatment for health issues, including kidney complications and pneumonia. Born in Boniyar (Baramulla), Bonyari, whose real name was Abdul Qayoom Khan, discovered his passion for writing at a young age. After completing his education at the University of Kashmir, he dedicated himself to teaching, retiring as a headmaster in 2007. Throughout his career, Bonyari authored over a dozen books in both Pahari and Urdu literature, gaining international recognition, with one of his works translated into Russian in 1972. Dropout rate among high school students in Jammu Kashmir reduces by nearly 32 percent

School Education Department has claimed that in the past five years the dropout rate among the students have decreased by more than 32 percent in comparison to the years prior to 2019. It said that till the academic year 2023-24, the dropout rate among at high school level has decreased by 32.25 percent. According to the official figures accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), prior to 2019 there was a dropout rate of 18.48 percent among the students of high school level. However, it also reveals that in the past five years that dropout rate has reduced to only 5.96 percent at high school level. In an ongoing process to rename schools after slain government force personnel, the historical Government degree college for Boys in Anantnag has been renamed. Established shortly after the partition of India and Pakistan, the college was granted a recognition in the year 1972 and was the sole college operating in the four districts of southern Kashmir.
