Situation in Kashmir Critical Even a Year After Abrogation, Says Sitaram Yechury

The Chief of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Sitaram Yechury has demanded the release of all detained Kashmiris who were arrested after the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, last year, and were lodged in jails of India and Jammu Kashmir. A press release issued to The Kashmiriyat by CPI(M) detailing the proceedings of the two-day meeting of Central Committee meeting read that Yechury had demanded the immediate restoration of 4G internet services and demanded lifting of curbs on the movement of people. 4G Internet Services Not Likely to Start Soon

4G Internet service in Jammu Kashmir will not start anytime soon, According to Home Department Jammu Kashmir, no order has been issued regarding the restoration of 4G Internet services. Pertinently the government had decided to keep the 2-G internet service intact till July 29, citing security reasons. The Home Department had decided to continue with its old order keeping in mind the situation at the ground level. According to the Home Department, the Militant organizations use 4G internet service to speed up its activities, spread rumors, give false information, trick youth, misuse social media etc.

Salman Shah/ Suhail Dar Angry Civilians on Tuesday morning broke the window panes of the hospital and vandalized the property inside the Government hospital, after a pregnant lady died allegedly of medical negligence in the Maternity and childcare hospital of Anantnag. The Jammu Kashmir administration has withdrawn a 49-year- old directive under which acquisition/requisition of land by Army and paramilitary forces required no objection certificate(NoC) from its Home department. According to Kashmir News Observer, a Local News Agency, The government had come up with a circular in 1971 under which acquisition of land by Army, CRPF, BSF and other similar agencies required NoC from Home department. Sajad Hameed A teenage boy slipped into river Jhelum in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday, after which the Police has launched massive search operations to trace him out. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that 13-year-old boy identified as Hanan Dar of Rawat pora in Delina area of Baramulla was playing with his friend along the banks of Jhelum when he slipped and drowned into the river. His friends immediately raised an alarm, and soon locals in large numbers rushed to the spot, The Police too arrived and launched a search operation to trace out the body of the teenage body. Man Killed over Land Dispute By His Brother in Baramulla

Shabir Khan A man was allegedly killed by his elder brother over land dispute in north Kashmir’s Pattan. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a family land dispute in a family fight turned into war between two brothers at Nihalpora area of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday. They said that the two brothers had a heated argument over land dispute in which a man allegedly killed his 60-year-old elder brother. The deceased has been identified as Bashir Ahmad Yatoo son of Abdul Rahim Yatoo, his body was taken to Pattan hospital for postmortem. Sheikh Nadeem Inhabitants of Palpora Ara Koshipora  and Damhaal area in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Monday alleged that the Jal Shakti Department (Public Health Engineering PHE) has failed to provide adequate water supply to them. The residents accused the department of ignoring their constant plights as unscheduled water supply is being provided in the area.
