Bus carrying Hajj pilgrims attacked by Hindutva men in Kota, Hajis forced to raise ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans

A bus carrying Hajj pilgrims was attacked by goons in Rajasthan’s Kota area on Wednesday evening leaving several Hajis including women injured.

People from all different parts of the world have begun their travel for the Hajj pilgrimage to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which is one of the Five Pillars of Islam.

The pilgrimage begins on the 7th day of Dhal-ijjah and ends on the 12th day. Dhal-ijjah is the last month of Islamic lunar calendar.

The incident happened on Wednesday night when a bus carrying Hajj pilgrims on the way to Jaipur airport was blocked by Hindutva goons in the Kota district of Rajasthan, Some of the pilgrims sustained injuries during the assault.

Speaking to the media they said that the pilgrims were on the way to the Airport when some unknown goons stopped their bus and hurled stones at it. Several stones pierced the glasses and entered inside the bus causing injuries.

“They, then entered inside the bus and saw young females in the bus and checked their names. Upon finding that all those onboard were muslims, the goons starting assaulting them. They forced us to raise Jai Shri Ram slogans and said that they will abduct all our women. After that they started assaulting the men and women onboard. They (Hindutva goons) also caused massive damage to the bus,” they said.

A young teenage girl was kicked several times, they said.

The Police have taken cognizance of the matter and arrested several accused.
