January 11 A known professor of Geography posted in Government Degree College in South Kashmir's Kulgam District is all set to quit his teaching job and join Mainstream Politics on 26 January on the eve of Indian Republic day. Snow Predicted for Next Three Days in Kashmir Valley

January 10 The MET Department of Jammu Kashmir has predicted snowfall for the next three days in the plains and higher reaches of Jammu Kashmir. Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected in the valley from 0th evening to 13th (Forenoon) in at most places of Kashmir, Sonam Lotus said.   (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); He further warned that the snowfall  may led to temporary disruption of surface and air transportation. The minimum temperature improved across Kashmir on Wednesday night leading to a little relief from the intense cold wave sweeping the valley.

Stray Dogs on Prowl in Boniyar, Injure Four People including a Minor

January 10 At least four persons were injured after they were attacked by stray dogs in Boniyar area of North Kashmir’s Uri on Thursday afternoon. Locals said that a group of dogs injured at least four persons including a minor and a female in Boniyar market on the Srinagar-Muzafarabad road. The locals present chased the dogs away but not before they had caused injuries to the four people. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

  January 10 The Government Forces on Thursday launched a cordon and search operation in Sopore area of North Kashmir's Baramulla District. CRPF Camp Catches Fire in Srinagar, Several Structures Damaged

January 10 In a major fire incident inside a CRPF camp in Srinagar, several structures were damaged it Zainakote area of Srinagar last night. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that fire broke out at the CRPF camp of 44 Battalion on the intervening night of 8 and 9 January damaging several structures located inside the camp.   (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Due the immediate action of the fire fighting tenders, the fire was brought under control before it could cause further damage. “The fire, which engulfed the 02 semi-permanent structures, was doused only after around two hours. Unknown Gunmen Kidnap Civilian from Sopore Area

January 09 Unknown gunmen kidnapped a civilian from Gund Brath area in Sopore of North Kashmir's Baramulla district. Girls Commits Suicide After Failing in Class 12 Exams

January 09 Sajad Hameed A girl student of class 12th committed suicide at Beerwah in central Kashmir’s Budgam after failing to qualify class 12 exam. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that an 18-year old girl (name withheld) who was a resident of Chewdara area in Budgam consumed poison at her home after she failed in the class 12 exams. The girl was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, from where she was shifted to Srinagar hospital for advanced medical treatment, however she died on the way to the hospital. Pertinently the results of board exams for class 12th were declared on Monday evening.

Massive Fire in Handwara Town, 10 Shops Guttes

January 09 Sajad Hameed Massive fire gutted nearly ten shops in north Kashmir’s Handwara town on Tuesday night. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that fire that broke out from a shop around 1 am spread to nine adjoining structures within no time. They said that Locals rushed to the spot to douse off the flames, after which Fire tenders and police also rushed to the spot. The incident caused a massive damage to at least ten structures in the main town, Locals added. The cause of the fire is not known yet.

Fresh Snowfall Predicted in Kashmir Valley From Friday, Cold wave Continues unabated

January 09 The MeT has predicted moderate to heavy snowfall in Kashmir plains on the 11th and 12th of January. "Widespread moderate to heavy snowfall in Kashmir & rains in plains of Jammu division most likely from this evening to 11th and 12th of January." Some places may receive heavy snowfall which may affect surface & air traffic mainly on 5 Jan, Director MeT Sonam Lotus said. Meanwhile the cold wave conditions continued unabated on Wednesday in the Kashmir Valley, dropping minimum temperatures several notches below the freezing point. Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar recorded minus 3.0 degrees Celsius while tourist resort Pahalgam recorded minus 5.0 and ski resort Gulmarg recorded minus 2.2, as the minimum temperatures on Wednesday.
