January 06 Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in Sopore area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla District. On the Sunday evening, the forces including 22 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Lone Mohalla area of Zaloora in Sopore. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that shops, business establishments are shut in the area, while roads are wearing a deserted look for the fourth consecutive day against the killing of three Militants on Thursday. People in large numbers are visiting the families of slain youth in Laribal area of Tral and Chursoo area of South Kashmir. Man Falls to Death While Clearing Snow from Rooftop in Bandipora

January 05 A man slipped to death when he was clearing snow on the roof top of his house in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Mumtaz Ahmed of ward 4 in Bandipora town. Ahmad died after he fell down from the roof top of his house when he was clearing snow. He was rushed to Srinagar Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, witnesses said. Fresh Snowfall Blocks Highway, Trains and Flights Suspended in Kashmir

Reports reaching The Kashmiriyat suggest that railway services have been suspended across the Kashmir, while the highway connecting Jammu with Srinagar has been blocked too after fresh snowfall in most of the areas of Kashmir valley. The flights on Srinagar airport have also been temporarily suspended for a day in view of the fresh snowfall. Meanwhile snow clearance is on in the urban areas, however the rural areas of the Kashmir valley especially down in South Kashmir still remain disconnected.
