Another Nocturnal Gunfight Rages in Kashmir- This Time in Budgam

A nocturnal encounter has started between Militants and Government Forces in the Beerwah area of Central Kashmir’s Budgan District. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that RR of Indian Army, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation. Forces had jointly launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the Beerwah area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. The troopers have installed search lights over the area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. 2-3 Militants from South Kashmir are believed to be trapped in the area, they said.

Meer Irfan  An encounter has started between Militants and Government Forces in the Badigam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian District. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 44 RR of Indian Army, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation late night on Thursday. Earlier Forces had launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. More reinforcements have been called to the spot as troopers have installed search lights over the area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. 2-3 Militants from South Kashmir are believed to be trapped in a residential house, they said.

CRPF Man Shoots Self in Jammu Kashmir

A 45-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan allegedly shot himself dead inside a security camp on the outskirts of Jammu city, officials said. Praful Kumar, who originally hailed from Assam, was on guard duty inside his post in Greater Kailash locality when he shot himself with his service rifle, the officials said. They said his colleagues rushed him to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. The motive behind him taking the extreme step was not known immediately, the officials said, adding police have started inquest proceedings in this connection. (PTI)Man Co

Seven Barracks of SSB Gutted in Fire incident in Srinagar

At least seven barracks of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) were gutted in a massive fire at Tatto Ground Batamaloo overnight, officials said on Thursday. They said that the fire started at around 0300 hours from a barrack of 10th battalion SSB and spread in the vicinity. While at least seven barracks were damaged, no loss of life was reported in the incident hitherto, they said. Reports are also pouring in that some arms and ammunition were damaged but official confirmation was awaited. A high level European Union delegation landed in Srinagar today, officials said. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the delegation is on a two day visit and is scheduled to meet various groups in Kashmir. This will be the third delegation visiting the valley to assess the ground situation in the UT after the Cetral Government stripped off the Special Status of erstwhile state of Jammu Kashmir and bifurcated the state into two UTs—Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. As per the reports, the Delegation is scheduled to meet the Civil Society members in Central Kashmir's Budgam district today.
