Encounter breaks out in Rajouri

An encounter has started between security forces and militants in Gundhikhwas Rajouri area of Jammu division officials said. Officials told news agency—the Kashmir Scroll that security forces received information about the presence of militants in the Rajouri area in the Jammu division. ” Teams of police and army rushed to the spot after this information at the entire area has been cordoned,” the official said, adding that the firing is going on between two sides and it is believed that more than two militants are trapped in the area. 25-year-old youth electrocuted to death at a fish farm in Ganderbal

A 25-year-old youth died due to an electric shock while working at an under-construction private aquaculture farm in the Akhal Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The deceased has been identified as Ubaid Mushtaq Dar, a resident of Palhalan Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Official sources said that the victim was busy erecting an electric pole when he received an electric shock. He fell into the waterbody and was immediately shifted to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The victim was doing labor at a fish farm owned by a private individual. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case under relevant sections of law. [KNT]

3 army troopers injured in Kulgam encounter succumb

Three army men who were earlier injured during the ongoing encounter in the Manzgam area of Kulgam have succumbed to their injuries. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that militants fired upon forces during a cordon and search operation in the south Kashmir area during which four army troopers were critically wounded. They said that the troopers were shifted to the Army's 92 base hospital, where three of them succumbed to their injuries. Meanwhile the search operation in Manzgam area of Kulgam has been intensified to trace the militants, who are believed to be two to three in number. Earlier Government forces including 34 RR, Jammu Kashmir Police had jointly laid a cordon during which militants fired upon them in the area.

University student Sadaf Ayoub loses battle with life

A university girl hailing from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district loses battle for life after prolonged ailments at SMHS hospital, sources said. Sources told news agency Kashmir Scroll that Sadaf Ayoub, resident of Lassipora Pulwama, a university student, passed away here at SMHS hospital this evening. They said that Sadaf was suffering from blood cancer. It is pertinent to mention that her family had appealed for financial assistance for her treatment, the video of which had gone viral on social media, if sources are to be believed she had received nearly one crore rupees in 24 hours after which her brother appealed to general public not to deposit any money.(KS)
