A gunfight has started between Militants and Government Forces in Sugoo in Hendhama area of Kashmir's Shopian District Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that 44RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation. The Encounter started when Militants fired on a party of Government forces who were conducting a joint cordonand Search Operation in the Sugoo area. Four Militants Killed in Shopian Encounter- Operation on, Says Army

Four Militants have been killed in an encounter that started between militants and Government forces at Reban area of Zainapora in Kashmir’s Shopian District. An Army official told The Kashmiriyat that on Sunday morning 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the Reban area. The cordon continued for nearly two to three hours, during which the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter, All the entry and exit points of the area have been sealed by the Forces. Shopian Minor Dies in Flash Floods in Kashmir

Meer Irfan A minor boy from Shopian was killed due to flash floods triggered by heavy rains in Dangam area of Shopian district in Kashmir on Tuesday. The boy identified as Hazim Malik, aged five, son of Rafiq Ahmad Malik, died late on Tuesday afternoon. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Irfan had left home to play with his friends and after he did not return, they approached the Police to trace him. A Police official in Shopian told  The Kashmiriyat that soon after the incident a search operation was launched by both security forces and locals to retrieve the bodies of the kid. And immediately, after that the body was traced at Ratnipora Halapora village of Shopian district and has been recovered now.

Suspected Militants Abduct Policeman in Kashmir’s Shopian

Late on Sunday evening, unknown gunmen abducted a Policeman from a Shopian after they stormed into his house in Thairan area. Sources in the Jammu Kashmir Police told The Kashmiriyat that militants appeared in Thairan village of Shopian district and abducted a police cop identified as Shakeel Ahmed. Sources said that post the incident the Government Forces cordoned off the adjacent villages to nab the suspected militants. More details awaited.

125.10 Quintal of Rice Distributed in Shopian

Irfan Mir The Department of Food  civil  supplies and consumer affairs Shopian on Thursday distributed free ration of 125.10 quintals of Rice among 1251 persons @ 5 Kilogram per soul of 979 migrant labourers placed at various places in the district Shopian for the month of May and June 2020. The deputy commissioner Shopian is playing a proactive role in helping these migrant labourers in various forms who had seen stranded due to lock-down. He has directed the field functionaries to assist these migrant labourers by providing them better essential commodities so that they can’t feel any inconvenience. He said that the district administration is in full swing for providing any kind of assistance to these migrant labourers.

May 06 Skinder Gull People in large numbers are visiting the families of the three slain Militants in Shopian and Pulwama District who were killed during an encounter with Government Forces on Friday in Shopian's Imam Sahib area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that women and men, in large queues despite restrictions are visiting the families of the slain Militants, Tariq Ali Sheikh in Mool Chitragam, Lateef Ahmed Dar in Dogripora Pulwama and  Shariq Nengroo of Chotigam area in South Kashmir's Shopian District. They said that people are also visiting the graves of the slain Militants in large numbers amid a complete shutdown in the area. 35 Percent Voting Till 11 Am in Shadab Karewa of Shopian

May 06 Skinder Gull 812 votes polled have been polled out of 2322 in Shadab Karewa area of Shopian till 11:10 AM, amid a low voter turnout in the district. Unlike most of the areas in the district, large queues of voters were seen here coming to cast their votes, defying the Militant posters and boycott calls. Meanwhile in the various assembly segments of the twin districts the polling percentage recorded stood at 0.95 Percent. In the six assembly segments the polling percentage recorded was, Tral 0.41% Pampore 2.68% Pulwama. 0.33% Rajpora 0.28% Wachi. 0.29% Shopian. 1.86%.

May 06 Amid a low voter turnout in South Kashmir's Pulwama and Shopian district, three votes have been polled out of 3895 votes in 5 Polling stations in Balpora area of Shopian. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that only 3 votes polled out of 3895 in 5 polling stations set in Army Goodwill School Balpora Shopian at 10:15 am. Meanwhile 400 votes were polled out of 6318 in Khrew area of Pampore in South Kashmir. Clashes have been reported from various areas of the twin districts, amid a complete ban on Mobile internet services in the entire South Kashmir.
