After almost a gap of four months, stalemate over mutton finally ended on Wednesday after a threadbare discussion between mutton dealers, members of Kashmir Economic Officers and the District Administration Kashmir.   Baramulla police on Wednesday arrested a person upon whose possession it claimed to have recovered over a kilogram of Charas - like substance at Hardshuroo area of the district. An official told GNS, a suspected person tried to escape a routine patrolling at Hardshuroo, however the team on duty tactfully nabbed him. During his search Charas-like substance, weighing one kilo fifty grams was recovered from his possession, the official said. Identifying the person as one Mushtaq Ahmad (34) a resident of Wagoora, Kreeri, the official further said that a case under FIR number 23/2021 under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been taken up at police station Kunzer and further investigations taken up.

Lieutenant General BS Raju today handed over the command of the strategic Kashmir - based 15 Corps to Lt Gen DP Pandey on Wednesday. In a statement, the General commanded the Corps in critical phase in 2020 where Kashmir was confronted with the twin challenges of militancy and COVID-19. “Lt Gen Raju’s tenure over the last one year is defined by an improved security environment prevailing both on the Line of Control and in Kashmir. With the civil administration and security forces synergising their efforts to bring normalcy back to Kashmir, militancy is on decline with assessed residual militant numbers being the lowest in a decade,” the statement said. Shabir Khan   On Tuesday, the locals of Machil sector of Kupwara gathered in unison demanding basic facilities for them. The locals were shouting slogans and said the area lacks basic facilities like electricity and water supply, due to which elderly people face a lot of problems. Habibullah, Sarpanch of Machil sector of Kupwara, said that there is a high school in Machil which lacks basic facilities, and only have six staff members, four among them are RTOs and two generalizers. Students are facing a lot of problems because of non availability of teachers from past eight years. We live in a far flung area which have no facilities, we don't have electricity, and from one week, roads are not cleared. We demand justice for the people of Machil especially for the students....
