CASO Launched in Pulwama’s Tahab

February 09 A cordon and search operation has been launched by Government Forces in Tahab area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Saturday evening, 55 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a search operation in Naira Area of Tahab in South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Stationary Shop Gutted in Pulwama Fire Incident

February 08 Skinder Gull A Stationary shop in the Panzgam area in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir was gutted in fire on Friday afternoon. Locals informed The Kashmiriyat that Stationary items worth lakhs of rupees got damaged  in the fire incident. Short-circuiting was stated to be the reason behind the incident. Owner of the shop Feroz Ahmad told The Kashmiriyat that he does not have any source of livelihood as a small short circuit has turned all his dreams into ashes. He requested the authorities to compensate the loss, so that he may start his shop again.

In upper reaches of Tral the snowfall caused extensive damage to residential houses, Roads are yet to be cleared and power supply is yet to be restored in higher reaches of Tral. February 06 A Local Militant has been killed in a brief encounter between militants and Government forces at Chakoora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 55 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police were fired upon by Militants during a cordon and search operation in the area. ALSO READ: Encounter Starts in Pulwama Area The Militant has been identified as Irfan Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Chakoora in Pulwama. Active since the last year, Irfan was the district commander of Lashkar e Taiba. Meanwhile mobile internet services have been snapped in this South Kashmir district.

February 06 Intense Clashes have erupted between protesters and government forces erupted in Chakoora area of Rajpora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway. A Local told The Kashmiriyat that on Saturday hundreds of protesters including women assembled and pelted stones on forces who responded to intense tear smoke shelling. Encounter Starts in Pulwama Area

February 06 An Encounter started between militants and Government forces at Chakoora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 55 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police were fired upon by Militants during a cordon and search operation in the area. Immediately the troops cordoned off the area and the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. As per initial reports available to The Kashmiriyat two to three militants are trapped in a residential house in the area. A heavy exchange of fire was going on when this report being filed.

Tawseef Ahmad Wani, 27, a resident of Achagoza area of Pulwama area of South Kashmir alleged that he was beaten to the pulp and tortured in the 44 RR camp of the army in Shadimarg area of Pulwama. Wani alleged that Major Shukla who is posted at the camp threatened him to pose with a gun or else he will kill the youth in an encounter. "Following a phone call on 4 February from the camp, Wani went to the camp in a personal vehicle with a friend, After I went to the camp to meet Major Shukla, I was asked to show my identity. Two Minor Boys Injured in Pulwama Grenade Explosion

February 01 Two minor boys were injured when a grenade they were toying with went off in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Friday. Identified as Sharafat Bashir and Junaid Bilal, both 13, were fiddling with the explosive device when it went off near Rohama in Pulwama causing serious injuries to one of them. The duo were shifted to the nearby hospital from where they were shifted to district hospital Pulwama. Reports said the boys apparently found the grenade from the scene of an encounter at Drabgam, nearly five kilometers from spot where the explosive went off.

2 Militants killed in Encounter at Drubgam in Pulwama

February 01 Two Militants have been killed in an Encounter started between militants and Government forces at Drubgam area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police were fired upon by Militants during a cordon and search operation in the area. Immediately the troops cordoned off the area and the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. In the ensuing gunfight two Local Militants were killed. Their bodies have been recovered from the encounter site and arms and ammunition has also been recovered from their possession. Meanwhile Mobile Internet services have been barred in Shopian and Pulwama districts.
