‘Curfewed Night’, Agha Shahid Ali’s poetry to be removed from curriculum at KU

Authorities are likely to remove world famous literature of Agha Shahid Ali from the university curriculum at University of Kashmir. (KU)

According to varied media reports received by The Kashmiriyat, the authorities have removed the literature of Agha Shahid Ali and novelist Basharat Peer from the M.A (English) curriculum at Cluster University in Srinagar.

“While the literature of the duo has been removed at the Cluster University, authorities are considering the removal of Agha’s poetry and Basharat Peer’s novel at KU,” reports said.

Basharat Peer, currently settled in the United States published his award winning novel “Curfewed Night” which was later included in the M.A English curriculum.

The advisors on education in Delhi/Srinagar have said that such “Resistance Literature” sustains “secessionist mindset, aspiration & narrative” among students.
