A counterfeit order proclaiming a winter vacation for colleges in Jammu and Kashmir has surfaced on various social media platforms, causing widespread confusion among students and educators alike.

According to The Kashmiriyat, the misinformation gained traction after being picked up by a few wire news agencies, which cited the deceptive order as the basis for their reports. This dissemination of false information has added to the prevailing uncertainty surrounding academic schedules in the region.

However, authorities have swiftly moved to quell the growing apprehension. An official from the higher education department who spoke to The Kashmiriyat, has categorically denounced the order as fabricated.

“It’s fake,” the official stated unequivocally, emphasizing the need for the public to exercise caution and verify information before succumbing to rumors.

As concerns mount over the impact of misinformation on students and educational institutions, it serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by the rapid spread of false narratives in the age of social media.

The incident underscores the importance of vigilance and fact-checking to maintain the integrity of information circulating in the public domain.
