Internet Barred for the Third Time in Four Days in Shopian

In an encounter that raged early morning in the Sugoo, Handhama area of Shopian, Four Militants have been killed so far and one more is believed to be trapped at the site of the encounter, a Security official told The Kashmiriyat.

He said that a joint search operation, which was conducted by Government Forces in the area around 0150AM, during the intensive search operation, the Militants hiding in the area opened fire upon the Forces, triggering a gunfight.

During this heated exchange of fire, four Militants have been killed, however no dead bodies have been recovered as of yet, the Army official said.

Since June 7, 13 militants including two commanders have been killed in the southern Kashmir district of Shopian.

Pertinently Slow internet was suspended in the District on 7th, it was restored on 8th evening to be suspended only after a few hours.

After banning the internet in Jammu Kashmir for approximately six months beginning August 5, 2019, the Centre Government now allows access but with speeds much slower. Mobile internet is restricted to 2G speed.

A report published on 06 August, 2019 stated that the total number of internet shutdowns in Jammu Kashmir is 178 over the past eight years.
