J&K Report 192 New Covid-19 Cases, No Deaths

Jammu and Kashmir reported 192 new covid-19 cases while as there was no death due to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Thursday. 58 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu Division and 134 from Kashmir, taking the overall tally to 338390. There was no death, either from the Valley and Jammu division, due to the virus during the last 24 hours, they said. So far 4489 persons—2189 in Jammu and 2300 in Kashmir—have died due to the virus, they said. An unknown organization is reportedly active exacting money from drivers in the name of ‘Save the Girl Children’ slogan. The said organization is using the name of Traffic Police Department. A couple of days back a lone protester at Srinagar’s Press Enclave staged a protest stating that an unknown organization whose credentials seems dubious is collecting money from drivers. A man hailing from a village near Rajouri town has been detained by police on Thursday for his "objectionable social media post"on death of Chief of Defence Staff and other security personnel in a chopper crash in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. Talented Sopore Cricketer Dies of Road Accident

Shabir Khan A 28-year-old cricketer from Kashmir who met with an accident in Sopore the last month succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Tariq Ahmed Mir, a resident of the Janwara area in Sopore met with an accident at Hangal teng area last month after which he was being treated at the Sher e Kashmir institute of medical sciences in Srinagar. On Wednesday night, his health deteriorated and he passed away, they said. His body was handed over to his family members late on Wednesday. Hundreds of people mostly youth participated in the last rites of Tariq who was a renowned cricketer in north Kashmir.

DoT to deactivate extra SIM of subscribers beyond nine connections in case of Kashmir and North east

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued an order to re-verify the SIM of subscribers holding beyond nine connections across India, six connections in the case of Jammu and Kashmir, North East and Assam, and to disconnect in case of non-verification. The subscribers will be given the option to choose the connection they want to retain and deactivate the rest of the connections, according to the order issued on December 7. "If during the data analytics carried out by DoT, it is found that an individual subscriber is having more than nine mobile connections (six in the case of J&K, NE and Assam LSAs) across all the TSPs (telecom service providers), all the mobile connections will be flagged for re-verification," the DoT order said.
