Militant Killed in Bemina Encounter Identified as Srinagar’s Tanzeel

One Militant has been killed in the ongoing gunfight in the Bemina area of Srinagar on Friday night. The Militant has been identified as Tanzeel, a resident of Habba Kadal area of Srinagar. The Insepctor General of Jammu Kashmir Police said that Tanzeel was involved in killing of a police officer PSI Arshid Ahmad near Khaniyar and owned allegiance to TRF militant outfit. The gunfight had started between militants and joint team of police and CRPF in Bemina area of Srinagar district on Friday evening. As the joint team of forces encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.

An official said that one Militant was killed during an encounter that raged in the Pulwama town of South Kashmir on Friday afternoon. The slain has been identified as Shahid Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Karfali Mohalla in Kani Kadal area of Srinagar. According to Jammu Kashmir Police the slain was involved in the  recent killing of Civilian, Mohammed Safi Dar, PDD Deptt’s staff on 2/10/21. The Police said that AK 47 rifle with Magazine and ammunition has been recovered from his possession.

Sources said a joint team of Army’s RR, Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation in Pulwama area. As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter. A senior police officer upon being contacted by The Kashmiriyat said that the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants.
