‘Gulf Between JK and Rest of Country Widens Every Passing Day’: Mehbooba Mufti on NIA Raids on Jamaat

In the wake of the recent raids by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Jamaat-e-Islami, the former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state and the PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti took to twitter to say that these raids were "emblematic of GOI waging a war against its so called ‘integral part’." She said that "instead of fighting an ideology with a better idea," the government was instead "crushing contrarian thought with an iron fist." "Such oppressive measures may seem to work temporarily but in the long run it will prove to be counter productive," she added. She also said that the "gulf between Jammu Kashmir and rest of the country widens with every passing day," and that it was a self goal.

BJP Sarpanch From Kulgam, his Wife Shot Dead in Anantnag

Suspected militants on Monday afternoon shot dead a BJP Sarpanch and his wife from Kulgam, presently living in Lal Chowk area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district.
