The residents of Chottigam area in Shopian district are suffering immensely due to absence of electricity in the south Kashmir area.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the residents said that the electric transformer of the area was damaged four days ago, however, nobody has come to the area as of yet to repair it.
“We have called the officials of the concerned electricity Department-PDD, several times, but they seem to be unconcerned to resolve our issues. We do not understand what has changed in Kashmir that our electricity bills were hiked. The transformers are still getting damaged. The redressal takes huge amount of time,” a local resident said.
He said that residents, especially the students are suffering massively due to the damaged transformer. “It has gotten difficult for the residents to come out of their houses after dusk,” he added.
He appealed to the district administration Shopian to resolve the issue at the earliest.
