After the transfer of Mr. Reyaz Ahmad Malik, the post was lying vacant for almost two months.

The locals of the town comprising of civil society members and the political leaders approached officials and top bureaucrats continuously but the administration was in deep slumber and the people were continually suffering.
Meanwhile, thirteen Surpanchs (Village heads) from different bordering villages which include Nambla, Garkote, Thajal, Lal pul, Uroosa, etc have threatened to resign from the posts but the action was nil.
Some of the prominent offices are also headless be it the Tehsildar office or Mini Secretariat because the officers haven’t been appointed by the department by which common masses are facing a lot of problems.
Today on July 6, 2021, New SDM Harvinder Singh(IAS) has joined and assumed charges at Uri.
