For the First time in a Decade, Number of Active Militants crosses 300

September 03 For the first time in a decade, the number of listed militants in Jammu Kashmir has crossed 300. For the past 10 years, the number of active militants hovered around 200 except in 2013 when only 78 militants were active in the Valley — this was the lowest figure since militancy erupted in the state in 1990. The main reason for the high number of militants has been local recruitment since 2017. As per records, 126 Valley youths picked up guns in 2017- which was the highest number since 2010 and this year over 135 have Joined the Militancy so far. The report compiled by the JK Police in early August reveals that 327 militants are active of which 211 are locals and 116 are foreigners. CASO Launched in At Least 18 Villages of South Kashmir, Intense Clashes Erupt

September 03 A massive cordon and search operation is underway in at least eighteen villages of Southern Kashmir which has lately emerged as a hot bed of Militancy. Officials informed The Kashmiriyat that a CASO has been jointly launched by three battalions of rashtriya Rifles including 44RR, 55 RR and 53 RR, two Battalions of CRPF, 183 BN and 184 BN and Jammu Kashmir Police. The operation has been launched following inputs about presence of Militant groups in the area, officials said. Minor Girl Found Dead in Uri

September 02 A minor girl missing for past ten days has been found dead in a forest area in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday. Sources said that Muskan Jan aged had went missing from her home in Boniyar Uri on August 23 and since then the Police and the family was searching for her, but to no avail. Her body was spotted by locals in the Trikanjan forests on Sunday morning.

Militants Including Zeenat ul Islam Reportedly Escaped from Shopian Gunfight

September 01 Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the Karimabad area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Late night on Saturday, the forces including 55 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Karimabad area. Cow attacks BJP MP in Gujarat, is critical

September 01 BJP MP from Gujarat Liladher Vaghela suffered broken ribs and has been admitted to the ICU of Apollo Hospital after a stray cow attacked him. Reportedly, the Lok Sabha MP from Patan was out for a walk when the cow attacked him outside his residence in Gandhinagar. The 83-year-old MP is said to be critical after he sustained head injuries, in addition to broken ribs. Prior to being elected to Parliament, Vaghela had served as a cabinet minister in Gujarat. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Water Resources, Consultative Committeeof the Ministry of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water and Sanitation and Railway Convention Committee.

September 01 Elections in Jammu Kashmir will be held from October, the new governor of the province, Satyapal Malik, announced. The urban body elections will be held from 1st to 5th October in four phases. The Panchayat elections will take place from 8th November to 8th December. In the meeting of the State Administrative Committee headed by the Governor, it was decided to hold the urban body elections before Panchayat elections. Police Book Kashmiri Journalist Under Militancy case

September 01 A Kashmir based journalist Asif Sultan who works for Kashmir Narrator and has been under Police custody for the past six days has been booked in a Militancy case.
