Bloody Sunday- 10 Including 7 Civilians Killed in Kashmir

October 21 The civilian death toll in Kulgam gunfight has mounted to seven after two more civilians succumbed to injuries at SMHS hospital in Srinagar, while as 43 civilians have been injured in the clashes at the gunfight site at Laroo area of district Kulgam. Some of the dead civilians have been identified as Ubaid Laway son of Mohammad Maqbool Laway, Uzair Ahmad, Mansoor Ahmad, Talib Maqbool of Laroo, Tajamul Ahmad of Denew Bogund, Aqib Ahmed and Irshad Ahmad of Shurat. Kulgam- Civilian Killed as Forces Leave Encounter Site Unsanitized

October 21 A civilian has been killed and many injured in a blast at the Gunfight site at Laroo area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district. Earlier, three militants were killed in a gunfight that erupted between Militants and Government Forces early morning on Sunday Sources told The Kashmiriyat that as soon the gunfight ended and Government forces withdrew from the area, local residents thronged the encounter site. They said people were sprinkling water on the debris of the house when an explosive device went up. "One Civilian has been killed and dozens are injured," an eyewitness told The Kashmiriyat. He said that the injured people have been taken to hospital for treatment.

Civilian Killed as Forces Open Fire on Protesters in Kulgam

October 21 A youth has been Killed as Government Forces opened fire upon protesters during the gunfight at Laroo area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a civilian whose identity has been initially reported as Ubaid Ahmed Laway was hit by a bullet during the clashes that erupted near the site of encounter in Laroo. Meanwhile hospitals at Kulgam told The Kashmiriyat that at least ten youth injured in the clashes were admitted there.

Three Militants Reportedly Killed in Ongoing Encounter in Kulgam

October 21 Three Militants have been Killed in the ongoing encounter  between Militants and Government Forces in Laroo area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District in the wee hours of Sunday Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that 9 RR of Indian Army, SOG of Police and  CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation. Earlier Forces had launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about presence of Militants in the Laroo area. Locals Try to March Towards Encounter Site in Kulgam, Intense Clashes Erupt

October 21 Intense Clashes have erupted between protesters and government forces erupted in Laroo area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway. A Local told The Kashmiriyat that scores of protesters including women assembled and pelted stones on forces who responded to intense tear smoke shelling. Announcements are being made on loudspeakers in the mosques asking others to come out, a local told The Kashmiriyat. People in large numbers from adjacent areas shouting pro independence and pro Militancy slogans are trying marching towards the encounter site. Meanwhile Mobile and Internet Services have been barred in South Kashmir's Kulgam District.

CASO Launched in Kulgam Area

October 17 The Government forces laid down a Cordon and search operation in Wanpora locality of Redwani area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam District on Wednesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 1 RR of Indian Army, SOG 0f JK Police and CRPF laid down the Search Operation jointly. “The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area,” Sources said. A door to door search operation has been launched in the area.

Hurriyat Calls for Shutdown on Thursday

October 17 The Hurriyat leadership has called for a shutdown on Thursday against the alleged atrocities, including gruesome killings, arbitrary arrests, destruction of homes and harassment of students and attack on journalists by the government forces. In a statement issued here this afternoon, JRL said that the state “repression” against people was increasing with each passing day as it gets manifest in different forms of “atrocities being committed”. It alleged that Universities and colleges were being forcibly closed to disallow students from raising their voice against daily “killings and atrocities”.

Forces go Berserk in Kulgam Area, Vandalize Property Worth Lakhs

September 27 The Locals of Redwani area in South Kashmir's Kulgam district  accused the Government Forces of vandalizing property in the area late night on Tuesday. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that without any provocation the Army men stopped their vehicles at the Redwani area and barged inside at least three dozen homes, vandalizing everything that met their eye. Qazi Ahmed Yasir, Hurriyat Activist Booked Under PSA for Anti India Activities

October 15 Qazi Ahmed Yasir and a Hurriyat activist, Ashiq Narchoor have been booked under the draconian Public Safety Act early morning on Monday and shifted to a Jail in Jammu. Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that the duo were shifted to Hira Nagar jail in Jammu after being arrested for 'Anti State' activities during the recent Urban Local body polls. Ashiq Narchoor, who is affiliated with Geelani led Tehreek e Hurriyat was arrested the last week during a raid at his house in the Mattan chowk area of South Kashmir's Islamabad township. Qazi Ahmed Yasir was arrested by the Police during a nocturnal raid on last Sunday after he announced the call for 'Demo referendum,' and also had demanded the removal of Army camp at Redwani area of Kulgam District.
