Ahead of Elections- Polling Parties Attacked in Several Kulgam Areas

Ahead of crucial Lok Sabha elections scheduled for the Kulgam District of Anantnag Lok Sabha seat for tomorrow, the polling parties have been attacked in various areas of the district.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that youth hurled stones on vehicles of the polling staff including the Government Forces in Khudwani Ghat area of Kulgam district and broke window panes of several vehicles.

The forces responded with intense tear smoke shelling, however, the youth responded regrouped in large numbers and threw stones on troopers.

Youth in large numbers hit the streets of the Khudwani area as soon as the polling staff reached the area and attacked them with stones, to which the Forces responded with tear smoke shelling, a Local told The Kashmiriyat.

“No polling booth has been established within the distance of 4 Kilometers in areas starting from Khudwani to Kaladran which runs through Bon Ghat, Redwani Bala,” a local told The Kashmiriyat.

Meanwhile poling parties were also attacked in Check Watoo, Mirhama, Mirwani of Damhal Hanjipora, Yaripora, Srandoo and Bogund.

A Police official upon being contacted by The Kashmiriyat said that no such incident has come into the notice of Police.
