5 Amarnath Pilgrims Die, Landslides Block Mughal Road

July 04 Rayees Shah Three pilgrims died and many injured due to landslides during pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas. Two pilgrims also died due to cardiac arrest today, reports said. Meanwhile the traffic on Srinagar-Leh  Highway was disrupted for some time on Tuesday evening due to landslides at various places along highway triggered by heavy  rains , reports said. They said that due to incessant rains that lashed valley on Tuesday evening , landslide occurred at Sumbal Bala , Aku Gund and Bajri Nallah along Sgr-Leh highway due to which the road remained blocked for hours . Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides on the highway.

Flood Situation in Assam Turns Grim- 32 Dead- Indian Media Neglects

July 02 The flood situation in Assam continues to be grim as the death toll has reached 32 and at least 63,000 people have been affected across five districts of Assam with the MeT department having predicted more rain in the coming days. Lakhimpur District is the worst-hit with nearly 32,000 being affected, followed by Charaideo with around 29,000 flood-hit people, local reports revealed. The Indian home minister Rajnath Singh has assured the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of full assistance from the Centre to tide over the situation. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has in its latest report said that 63,300 people are at present affected by the floods in five Assam districts of Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Charaideo and Karimganj. At least 48 people killed in Utarakhand road Accident

July 01 At least 48 people were killed after a bus fell down into a 60-metre deep gorge in Uttarakhand on Sunday. As per reports, the accident took place at about 9 a.m., near the Queens Bridge on the Pipli-Bhaun road when the driver lost control of the 28-seater bus which was headed to Ramnagar from Bhaun Eight injured people were rushed to nearby medical facilities out of which four were in “very critical” condition. Inspector General of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Sanjay Gunjial has informed that a chopper has been rushed to airlift the remaining injured people. Women Commandos Prepared to Deal with Stone Throwers

June 30 Stone throwing incidents have been on rise in the Kashmir valley post the Ramadan ceasefire which saw a drop in the number of stone pelting incidents. To tackle the situation, The Central Reserve Police Force has prepared a team of Women troopers to deal with stone throwers after it has been found that women are actively participating in Stone throwing. The team has been provided the special training of fixing weapons in less than a minute, fighting blindfold and tackling the enemy during the night. 10 BSF Men Coming to Kashmir Missing

June 27 The Border Security Forces has said ten of its men coming to Kashmir have went missing from a railway station. As Per officials 83 BSF Men were coming in a special train to Jammu Kashmir while 10 of them went missing all of a a sudden from Mughalsarai Railway station. The Men have reportedly not informed their officer in charge post which he filed a First Information Report at the Railway Police Station. The Special train was travelling from West Bengal to Jammu's Samba Region, and when the soldiers were counted at Mughalsarai railway station 10 of them were found absconding.

Amarnath Update- Second Group of Pilgrims Leave from Base Camps

June 27 The Annual Hindu Pilgrimage, Amarnath Yatra began on Thursday amid light rainfall in the Kashmir valley with the second batch of 3,425 pilgrims leaving from here for two base camps in the Kashmir Valley. The Yatris left in two groups: The first group of Yatris left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas at 3.55 a.m. in an escorted convoy for Baltal base camp and the other group left at 4.20 a.m. for Pahalgam base camp. "The second batch of 3,425 pilgrims includes 2,679 males, 592 females, three children and 151 Sadhus," police officials said. The 60-day long Amarnath Yatra will end on August 26. The MET department has forecast occasional rain and thunder showers along both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes to the cave shrine on Thursday.
