3 army troopers injured in Kulgam encounter succumb

Three army men who were earlier injured during the ongoing encounter in the Manzgam area of Kulgam have succumbed to their injuries. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that militants fired upon forces during a cordon and search operation in the south Kashmir area during which four army troopers were critically wounded. They said that the troopers were shifted to the Army's 92 base hospital, where three of them succumbed to their injuries. Meanwhile the search operation in Manzgam area of Kulgam has been intensified to trace the militants, who are believed to be two to three in number. Earlier Government forces including 34 RR, Jammu Kashmir Police had jointly laid a cordon during which militants fired upon them in the area.

A university girl hailing from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district loses battle for life after prolonged ailments at SMHS hospital, sources said. Sources told news agency Kashmir Scroll that Sadaf Ayoub, resident of Lassipora Pulwama, a university student, passed away here at SMHS hospital this evening. They said that Sadaf was suffering from blood cancer. It is pertinent to mention that her family had appealed for financial assistance for her treatment, the video of which had gone viral on social media, if sources are to be believed she had received nearly one crore rupees in 24 hours after which her brother appealed to general public not to deposit any money.(KS)

Three army troopers have been injured in the ongoing Kulgam encounter on Friday afternoon An official told The Kashmiriyat that three army men who were injured during the ongoing encounter have been evacuated to the hospital through a chopper. They are being taken to the Army's 92 base  hospital for treatment, he said. Earlier, on Friday, a joint team of RR of Indian Army, Police and CRPF following a specific information about the presence of militants in the Halan Manzgam area. The official said that, as the joint team of forces progressed towards the suspected identified spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter. One to two militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

A mosque was set on fire while a short circuit apparently triggered a blaze in another in Haryana’s Nuh district, police said on Thursday. The incident happened four days after a mosque was burnt down by Hindutva mobs in the Nu area of Haryana. No one was injured in the incidents that took place around 11:30 pm on Wednesday, they said. Weather department on Friday forecast mainly hot and dry weather in Jammu Kashmir but isolated late afternoon or evening showers has not been ruled out. “Mainly hot and dry weather is expected today. Rain may occur at isolated to scattered places of Jammu & Kashmir towards late afternoon /evening,” a meteorological department official here told GNS. He said that no large change was expected with the weather on weekend and same conditions are expected on August 5-6. National Investigation Agency on Friday morning conducted raids at five different locations in south Kashmir in a militancy-related case. Official sources told GNS that the NIA team with the assistance of police and CRPF started raiding five different places in Kulgam and Pulwama areas of south Kashmir. The raids were also being carried out at the house of killed Hizb Commander Umar Ganie resident at Shouch. “The searches are being carried in connection with militancy case RC 5/22,” they added.
