July 28 Another Youth from South Kashmir has joined Militant ranks despite the escalating Militant deaths during Anti Militancy operations since the last year. Local Youth have been joining Militant ranks in huge numbers despite the plea of Police as well as Army officials to stay away from Militancy. Today another youth identified as Ishfaq Ahmad wani son of late Mohammad Yousuf wani resident of Koil village of Pulwama district who had been missing from last seven days has released his photograph with a gun. Another Policeman Abducted in South Kashmir

July 28 Suspected Militants have abducted yet another policeman from South Kashmir's Pulwama district late night on Friday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that gunmen barged into the house of Shakeel Ahmed Lone at his residence in Chan Kitar area of Tral and abducted him late night on Friday. Earlier on July 20, a trainee constable Saleem was abducted from his residence in Mutalhama area of Kulgam, while he was on a leave. His bullet-riddled body, bearing severe torture marks, was recovered later. On July 5, constable Javaid Ahmad Dar, who was also at home on leave was abducted from Vehil, Shopian. His body was found in Kulgam next day.

July 27 Despite Curfew like restrictions, the Chairman of Ummat e Islami and Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Qazi Ahmed yasir today managed to reach Wachi area in Shopian District where he was invited for Friday congregational prayers. Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir reaches Wachi Shopian Despite Curfew Like Restrictions

July 27 The Chairman of Ummat e Islami and Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Qazi Ahmed yasir despite curfew like restrictions in Islamabad township has reached Wachi area of Shopian in South Kashmir on friday. In the area, Mirwaiz Qazi yasir had been invited to address Friday gathering, the spokesman of UeI told The Kashmiriyat. He added that making his way through by lanes, apple orchards, muddy waters and fields Mirwaiz Qazi yasir reached Shopian where he will lead a Pro Freedom rally and visit the families of slain youth in that area.

Islamabad Shuts down amid Clashes for Second day, Kulgam for 5th Day

July 26 The Kulgam District in South Kashmir is observing a complete shutdown for the 5th consecutive day on Thursday against the Militant killings in South Kashmir. Earlier three Militants including two Militants from Kulgam were killed in a gunfight that raged in Khudwani area of the Kulgam district on Sunday (22 July). On Wednesday another Kulgam Militant identified as Bilal Ahmed Dar was killed in a gunfight that raged in Islamabad township early morning. Educational institutes, Shops and business establishments are shut in the area, while traffic movement is very thin. 2 Kupwara Youth Planning to Join Militants Reunited with their Families

July 25 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have reunited two youth from north Kashmir’s Kupwara with their homes. The youth as per Police were planning to join militancy. The Police in a statement issued to the press said the youth were brought back from Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. According to reports, the youth had gone missing two days ago. However, the parents of the youth did not lodge any missing report. "Our reliable sources suggest that the duo had intentions of joining militant ranks,”a Police official said. “After proper counselling both the youth were handed over to their parents,” he said.

Another Encounter Starts at Kupwara

July 25 A massive gunfight has raged in the Kashar Katan hall in Keran sector of North Kashmir's Kupwara District early morning on Wednesday. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that a group of armed Militants were seen hiding in the forest area near the line of control. Army's 14 RR cordoned off the area following which Militants hiding in the area opened fire upon them, triggering off an exchange of gunfire. Additional reinforcements of Army and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police were rushed to the spot. Heavy exchange of fire was on from both sides when last reports came.

Hizb Claims responsibility of Batamaloo Attack

July 24 Militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen while owning the responsibility of Batamaloo attack said that a paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man was killed after the boys affiliated with Hizb attacked them. The outfit Operational Spokesperson Burhanuddin said that a couple of militants from the outfit carried an attack on Indian troopers resulting in the death of a CRPF man and injuries to others. Pertinently, the militants carried out the attack in busy Batamaloo near Fire and Emergency Service office creating panic in the area. A trooper whom sources identified as Shankar Lal of 23 Battalion was injured in the attack who later on succumbed to his injuries. (CNS)
