The District Magistrate (DM), Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today during a surprise inspection in Government offices found 07 employees of Municipal Committee Shopian and 20 employees of R&B division Shopian including one senior officer absent from their duties. Taking serious note of their unauthorized absence, the DM said that stern action shall be initiated against the absentees under rules. The DM also called for explanations from the officer/officials, who were found absent during the inspection. The DM directed for remaining punctual in future and said that such inspections will continue in future also and dereliction of unauthorized absence will not be tolerated at all.(GNS)

Residents of Dachnoo village Hirpora hamlet of south Kashmir’s Shopian district Thursday complained of lack of basic facilities in the village. The ARTO officials conducted inspection of school buses on Shopian-Keller route near Zawura village and the crackdown resulted into scrutiny of nearly 30 buses. Killer of CRPF personnel along with militant associate arrested: IGP Kashmir

Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Sunday said that killer of CRPF personnel has been arrested by police. Quoting IGP Kashmir, The Kashmir Zone wrote, " We have arrested killer of CRPF personnel. Weapon of offence (pistol) recovered on his disclosure. 01 OGW who accompanied him during terror crime also arrested. Militant crime was committed on the direction of LeT Cmdr Abid Ramzan Sheikh. Meer Irfan Sadness and grief gripped the Zainapora belt of Shopian after a temple was gutted during a fire incident in this Shopian area. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, massive flames erupted from the temple building after a short circuit. "Locals along with police and fire tenders tried to bring the fire under control, but the fire damaged the entire temple," locals told The Kashmiriyat. Muslims of the area expressed deep regret over the incident. They made sure that they collected ample water for a week, since the water supply through the tank only reaches them after a week or so. Amid snowfall, the residents of Sedow walked long distance carrying huge utensils for water towards the Water Tank. Meer Irfan One militant has been killed during the ongoing encounter between militants and Government forces at Nadigam area of South Kashmir's Shopian district. Earlier an official confirming the exchange of gunfire said that on Tuesday morning RR of the Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about the Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the Shopian area. The hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter, during which one militant was killed, officials said. As per initial reports available to The Kashmiriyat two to three militants were trapped in the area.
