“I am Being Harassed by Forces”- Video of Shopian Youth Who joined Militancy today Appears on Social Media

A 57- Second video of a 22 year old youth, Shakeel Ahmed Dar, whose photo claiming that he had joined Hizb ul Mujahideen is doing rounds on Social Media- claiming that he is being pushed to join Militancy.

“I am being harassed by Forces including Police and Army, I pray that i die alongside Militants, i am being constantly pushed to work as an informer by forces,” he is heard saying in this video.

The face of the youth in the video purportedly shot in 2018 shows a masked youth who claims that he is  Aijaz Ahmed Dar from Tukroo Shopian.

The photo of Aijaz Ahmed Dar son of Abdul Gani Dar has appeared on Social media on Saturday claiming that he has joined Militant outfit Hizb ul Mujahideen.

Locals from Shopian told The Kashmiriyat that Shakeel had left home the last month after which he disappeared, today his photo carrying a gun appeared on the Social media.

South Kashmir districts have witnessed a surge in youth joining the Militant ranks after the encounter of Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016, Despite the Indian Army having launched ‘Operation All Out’ and intensifying the Anti Militancy operations, the local Militancy is on rise.

Militancy has seen a huge rise after the three encounter that were held on a single day on April 01 2017, in South Kashmir ending with the death of 13 local Militants.

The Himalayan region has seen large number of youth picking up arms since an armed insurgency began against the Indian rule in 1988, Since their partition both India and Pakistan have fought three wars claiming the region in its entirety.
