Kulgam Encounter Ends- 2 Local Militants, One Army Man Killed

The Encounter that had raged in Redwani in the early hours of Tuesday has ended with the killing of two militants and one Army man in this Kulgam area of South Kashmir.

Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that the joint operation was being conducted by 1 RR of Indian Army, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force.

The forces had laid a siege around the Redwani area after receiving credible inputs about the presence of two Militants in the area, who during the search operation opened fire upon Forces, triggering a gunfight.

In the ensuing gunfight, one Army man and two Militants were killed, the house in which the Militants were holed up has also been completely damaged during the encounter.

The Officials confirmed the identity of of the Militants to The Kashmiriyat as Aijaz Ahmed Makroo a resident of Redwani and Waris Ahmed Malik, a resident of Moman Arwani.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Aijaz Ahmed Makroo (Moulvi), a resident of Redwani Kulgam, an affiliate of Lashkar e Taiba has rung up his family informing them that he has been trapped at the encounter site.

Waris Ahmed Malik son of Bashir Ahmed Malik, a resident of Moman area in Arwani had joined Militancy on 04 August 2018.

Meanwhile Mobile Internet services have been suspended across South Kashmir, Railway services have been suspended for the fifth consecutive day. (The Kashmiriyat)
