August 15

“Vail Nagbal” a village in south Kashmir area of Islamabad (Anantnag) District where the highest qualification of girls is 10th class and boys are 12th class but unfortunately not a single person passed 12th class till this 21 century.
A remote village of Islamabad (Anantnag) district “Vail” about 25 km’s from main town Islamabad (Anantnag) is still untouched by all the facilities (like roads water. Electricity etc) and lacks basic necessities include education.

The people of vail village in Islamabad District still face basic amenities in this modern age of globalization. The absence of basic amenities, including electricity, potable water, health centre, mobile connectivity and road connectivity, has added to their woes.

Mashaals (fire torches) is what lights the vail village for electricity among many other things is still a dream.
The village has two schools one primary and one middle school with total number of 255 students are enrolled in both schools besides 10 teachers four primary and six in middle school.

The government schemes were seen failed in these remote villages in Islamabad (Anantnag) District. One of the scheme for girls “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” to Save girl child, to educate a girl child. This scheme aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls.

As per the locals this scheme is seen null in their village as the village girl students are only study till 10th class, No official from government had come in their village till this date to aware about this scheme and other schemes, alleged locals. The boys are study till 12th class after that they left the study and started to work for existence to live.

Vail village is seen a first village in south Kashmir Islamabad District which is very near from main town Islamabad where the almost 70 percent students left the study after 8th class and there is no student who had Graduate till this date.

With no decent cellular networks (no mobile tower in villages on any side) zero internet connectivity, the odds seemed to be clearly stacked against vail village to go digital.

Houses who built almost with mud, the village seems to fissure by poverty this should be the reason behind the students left study after 8th class.

Few years back the village gears up with a cancer disease almost 20 people from said village died due to stomach and throat cancer. According to a local NGO who helped them gives us information from the said village in which they helped and support them financially for their treatment.

An employee (name with held) from the said NGO while talking to The Kashmiriyat said that few years back he raised the voice of said village about the cancer disease. “I wrote some articles that were published on local daily newspapers thinking that the state will consider about the disease and will campaign in villages. but all goes in vain.

The Kashmiriyat raised the issue DM Gastroenterologist Mohd Shafi Hakeem in District Hospital Islamabad who said that they have not conducted any study on the residents as to why such a staggering number of patients with cancer have risen from there.

Throat and stomach are the two types of cancer which we have seen from the various villages of Adlash, Sakdas and sirigufwara area include Vail village. Added that we will borrow a detailed report from local NGO of all the patients and will check the details after that we covey a message to higher authorities to take action.

The vail village is battling high unemployment and poverty, the poverty gears up in all sides of village. There is not only a single person who passed 12th class. Since it is situated in Anantnag District, it is a remote area. The village dwells under poor infrastructure. NGO Employee added.

Abdul Rashid Khan a local resident while talking to The Kashmiriyat said that we face basic amenities like water, electricity and other things. Once Ex chief Minister of PDP Mehbooba Mufti came in our village and assured us to eat walnut and toffees but we never saw her walnut and toffees till this date. The residents didn’t know about the electricity as they addict know to fire Mashaals (fire torches) in homes, added Khan.

Another resident Abdul Qayoom Khan while talking to The Kashmiriyat said that we request several times to higher authorities to fulfill our demands like electricity and water in our village, but all goes in vain. The concern officials taking wrong advantage of our demands as the almost township belongs to poor backgrounds.

Interestingly During reporting when a team of reporters went to the village the villagers announced on masjids to assemble near masjid. As per the locals there, no media person went there till this date to highlight their grievances. At least 0ne thousand people are living in said village as the majority of living with Gujjar Community.
