Shopian Encounter Ends- Hideout Busted, Three Militants Killed, Clashes Continue

The encounter in Shermal orchards at South Kashmir’s Shopian has ended now and the operation has been called off.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the encounter has ended with the killing of three militants and injuries to one army personnel, also militant hideout has been busted in the orchards.

The dead bodies have been recovered, one of them has been identified as Shams of nearby Dragad area.

As per initial reports, two other have been identified as Shoaib Ahmed Shah of Shirmal Shopian and Amir Ahmad Bhat of Chidipora Shopian.

An official had earlier told The Kashmiriyat that the gunfight started early today morning when 44 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF laid a siege to the orchards of Shermal area in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Sources said that the Indian Army has withdrawn from the area after the hideout was busted and the dead bodies recovered.

However intense clashes were going on in the area.
