Sikh Leader resigns after Grenade attack on the house of fellow candidiate

A Sikh Candidate for Panchayat elections from Gaziabad Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama District has withdrawn his candidature following an attack on the house of another Panch Candidate namely Surinder Singh of Padibal, in Devar Tral on Saturday evening.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Balbir Singh has withdrawn his candidature from Ward 3 of Tral for the ongoing Panchayat polls and said that he has nothing to do with the electoral process.

“The people of Kashmir do not support me and the ongoing turmoil in Kashmir does not allow me to participate in the polls,” he said while withdrawing his candidature from the polls.

I have filled an application as a candidate mistakenly and hereby i withdraw my candidature, he added.

Pertinently grenade was hurled at the residence of Panch Candidate namely Surinder Singh of Padibal, in Devar Tral on Saturday evening.
