17 Civilians Killed this Year in Forces Firing in Shopian

August 11 As many as fourteen civilians have been killed in the firing of Government Forces in Shopian district alone. As per figures available to The Kashmiriyat Shopian District has been the worst hit, the district witnessed four civilian killings on a single day on March 4 at Pehnoo area. On 27 January, two civilians namely Javaid Ahmed and Suhail Ahmed were killed by government forces when army fired on a group of protesters at Ganopora area in Shopian. Later one more among the injured namely Rayees Ahmed a 19 year old youth also succumbed to his injuries at skims on January 31. 4 Army men Including Major Killed in North Kashmir Encounter

 August 07 An Indian Army Major and three soldiers were killed in a gunfight with Militant in Gurez Sector along the Line of Control in North Kashmir's Bandipora District. Reports suggest that Army intercepted a group of eight infiltrators who were trying to cross from Gurez in north Kashmir. The infiltration bid was foiled and two Militants have also been shot dead, they said. 51 Taliban Militants Killed in Army Operations

August 05 At least 51 Taliban insurgents were killed and six were injured during an ongoing operation by Afghan forces in eastern Kunar province, Khaama Press reported. The sixth phase of Qahr Silab-2 operation kicked off on Friday night and is currently being conducted with the help of the artillery and close air support, a statement by the Silab Corps said. The statement elaborated that 51 Taliban militants including three of their key leaders were killed and at least six others sustained critical injuries.
