Zero Votes Polled out of 2370 in Native of M. Tech Student Turned Militant

Amid a overall low turnout in the Srinagar Parliamentary seat on Thursday, in which three Districts Ganderbal, Budgam and Srinagar are going to polls, the native of M.Tech student turned Militant, Rahid Sheikh is witnessing a complete boycott of polls.

As per Officials, zero votes have been polled in Nuner area of Ganderbal in Central Kashmir til 1030 am in two polling stations in the area amid a very security cover in the area, Mobile internet Services have been snapped here.

Rahid Sheikh, an M.Tech turned student had joined militant outfit Hizb ul Mujahideen in the last month and today his area is observing a complete boycott of polls.

Similarly in Chundhama, Ganderbal, the native of professor turned Militant, Mohammed Rafi Bhat who was killed on 05 May 2018, 10 votes have been polled out of nearly 3000 votes in the area.

In Arpanthan Budgam, which witnessed civilian killings in 2017 when by-polls were held for the Srinagar constituency, a total of one vote has been polled out of 793 total votes in the booth 44 of the area.

Clashes have also erupted in various areas of Central Kashmir including Zakura area in Srinagar, Charar e Shareef and Daharmuna area in Budgam.

A total of 12 candidates are in the fray in Srinagar, which was won in 2014 by PDP candidate Tariq Hameed Karra, who quit the party in 2016 in protest against civilian killings. The Valley went through an intense phase of civil unrest after the killing of militant commander, Burhan Wani. Udhampur will also go to the polls on Thursday,
