In order to have a joint security grid in place at National highway ( NH -44) in Kulgam and for better coordination among forces , joint security review meeting was conducted in conference hall at district police lines Kulgam. Man shot at by suspected militants in Kulgam

One person has been shot at by unknown gunmen in the Hassanpora area of Arwani in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that suspected militants on Friday evening fired upon a man identified as Asif Ali Ganie son of Ali Mohammed Ganie in the Hassanpora area, causing injuries to him. Asif Ali Ganie, a resident of Hassanpoa Tavela has been shifted to the Sub District hospital Bijbehara, they said. Meanwhile, the Government forces have reached the spot and laid a cordon around the area to nab the attackers. Pertinently, his father, 53, named Ali Mohammed Ganie was  shot dead by militants outside his home in south Kashmir’s Hassanpora area on January 29, 2022. Details emerging

On specific inputs regarding the movement of scheduled drugs, multiple raids were today conducted at several places in Kulgam district by a team of Drug officials under the supervision of Dy. Drugs Controller Kashmir. During the raids, scheduled drugs worth Rs.31,740 liable to be misused were seized on the spot and court proceedings were also initiated in the matter. Gunshots fired by troopers on observing suspicious movement in Kulgam: Police

Police on friday said that security forces fired some rounds of bullets in air after observing suspicious movement in DH Pora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. In a brief handout to GNS, the police said that suspicious movement was reported during late afternoon in the main town DH Pora Kulgam. CASO was launched to search the area and some speculative shots were also fired. Police Kulgam, 9RR and CRPF 18 Bn are jointly conducting search, reads the statement.(GNS)

A tragedy struck a family in Gujjar Basti Avil Manzgam area of Damhal Hanjipora in south Kashmir's Kulgam on Friday after an elderly man died on Friday while his residential house was gutted in a fire incident a few hours after his death. Tehsildar Damhal Hanjipora, Rouf Ahmad Lone told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that an elderly man (house owner) died early morning on Friday after a few hours his house caught fire. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Khatana son of Ali Mohd Khatan, a resident of Gujjar Basti Avil Manzgam. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, aghast residents said that despite issuing a curtailment schedule with several power cuts, the Department has failed to provide uninterrupted power supply during the non-curtailment hours. Kulgam residents demand widening of Bathipora-Manzgam road

Residents of Kulgam are demanding widening of vital Bathipora-Manzgam road causing inconvenience to commuters. Locals from the area told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the road was constructed in 1957 during the reign of erstwhile J&K Prime Minister Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad and since then it has not been upgraded. They said that the road is less than 12 feet wide and makes it difficult for commuters to travel smoothly on the busy route.
