CASO Launched in Shopian Areas

March 09 A cordon and search operation (CASO) has been launched by Government Forces in South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Saturday morning, 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a search operation in Moolu, Heff and Shermal areas of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Graduation Student from Shopian Goes Missing

March 06 A 22 year old boy from Shopian in South Kashmir has went missing from his home since Tuesday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Mohammed Amin Bhat son of Ghulam Mohuddin Bhat, a resident of Poterwal Area in South Kashmir's Shopian has been missing from his home. Amin, as per his family members, had left home to appear in the exams at Government Degree College (GDC) of Pulwama. The family has sought the help of people in locating the missing youth. Amin as per his family is pursuing Bachelor's in Arts at GDC Pulwama.

Militant Hideout Busted in Shopian

January 02 The Government Forces busted a hideout of Militant in the Shopian District of South Kashmir, Police officials said. They said that a hideout was busted on Wednesday afternoon at Kungoon area of Shopian in South Kashmir. "Incriminating materiel was recovered from the hideout," the Police officials added.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Sunday afternoon, 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a search operation in Zainbathoo area of Malikgund in South Kashmir's Shopian District. Following inputs about Militant movement in the area, the forces blocked all the entry and exit points of the area. A door to door search operation was conducted by the forces jointly During the search operation, nothing was found in the area after which forces called off the operation.

Militants Attack Army Camp in Shopian, Police Deny

March 02 Suspected Militants on Saturday fired gunshots towards a camp of Indian Army in Dachoo area of Nagbal in South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that suspected Militants on Saturday evening fired gunshots towards a camp of 44 RR of Indian Army  in Dachoo area of Shopian. The troopers fired in retaliation forcing the attackers to run away from the spot. Police officials however denied the reports and said that forces opened fire after observing suspicious movement around the camp.

Two Militants Killed in Ongoing Shopian Encounter

February 27 Two Militants have been killed in an ongoing encounter that raged between militants and Government forces at Memander area in South Kashmir’s Shopian District. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 23 Para of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the area. While conducting the operation, the Militants opened fire upon the forces, they said. In the ensuing gunfight, two unidentified Militants have been killed. Shopian Youth Goes Missing in Jammu, Family Seeks Help

February 22 A 28 year old youth has been missing from Jammu from the past week and there has been no trace of him since. Identified as Nazir Ahmed Zarger, a resident of Memander in South Kashmir's Shopian, he had left home for prayers on 09 February and has been missing since then. The family of Nazir while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said Nazir had moved to Jammu along with his father Mohammed Yusuf Zarger two months back. ''At our rented house in Narwal Jammu, he said he will return after prayers, but since then, we have been trying to find him, but to no avail," his father Mohammed Yusuf told The Kashmiriyat. February 17 A family from Wathoo area in South Kashmir's Shopian on Sunday alleged that the Government Force personnel barged into their house hold and thrashed two inmates ruthlessly. Reports reaching The Kashmiriyat said that Sheeraz Ahmed, a cleric from Arihal in Pulwama and his father in law at Wathoo area late night on Friday. Locals from Wathoo told The Kashmiriyat that the Forces barged into the household late Friday nigh, absuing everyone and later thrashed two of the inmates.
