COVID-19: one dies, 139 fresh cases in J&K

Srinagar records 51 cases, case tally at 341,167 death toll reaches to 4,526, active cases reaches to 1,294, recovery rate at 98.30 percent

Jammu and Kashmir Thursday reported one more death and 139 fresh positive cases of COVID-19, thus taking the number of total active cases in the Union Territory to 1,294.

With one more death, the death toll in J&K has reached to 4,526 and 139 fresh positive cases reported on Wednesday have pushed the tally of positive cases to 341,167.

Of the exact number of 341,167 cases, 214,985 are from Kashmir division and 126,182 from Jammu division.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 139 new cases, 102 belong to Kashmir division while as 37 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 214,985 including 211,745 recoveries and 2,328 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 126,182 including 123,602 recoveries and 2,198 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,294 including 912 from Kashmir division and 382 from Jammu division.

With 120 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 335,347 which is 98.30 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 51 from Srinagar, 15 from Baramulla, 13 from Budgam, 07 from Pulwama, 03 from Kupwara, 01 from Anantnag, 02 from Bandipora, 04 from Ganderbal, 06 each from Kulgam and 00 Shopian in Kashmir division while as 37 from Jammu division include 16 from Jammu division, 04 from Udhampur, 00 from Rajouri, 02 from Doda, 03 from Kathua, 01 from Samba, 00 from Kishtwar, 08 from Poonch, 00 from Ramban and 03 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Meanwhile, authorities said that no fresh cases of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and the tally stands at 50.

As per officials figures, 78,753 positive cases including 883 deaths and 77,439 recoveries are from Srinagar, 25,975 including 290 deaths and 25,526 recoveries are from Baramulla, 24,493 including 24,229 recoveries and 216 deaths are from Budgam, 15,721 including 15,487 recoveries and 195 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,965 including 167 deaths and 14,736 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,732 including 16,508 recoveries and 208 deaths are from Anantnag, 10,173 cases including 10,016 and 111 deaths are from Bandipora, 10,997 including 10,807 recoveries and 82 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,554 including 11,421 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,618 including 5,557 recoveries and 59 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 54,177 including 52,764 recoveries and 1,156 deaths are from Jammu district, 11,480 including 11,326 recoveries and 139 deaths are from Udhampur, 11,379 including 11,125 recoveries and 239 deaths are from Rajouri, 8,047 including 7,874 recoveries and 137 deaths are from Doda, 9,387 including 9,225 recoveries and 153 deaths are from Kathua, 7,178 including 7,052 recoveries and 120 deaths are from Samba, 4,854 including 4,803 recoveries and 44 deaths are from Kishtwar, 6,606 including 6,483 recoveries and 100 deaths are from Poonch, 6,074 including 6,001 recoveries and 67 deaths are from Ramban and 7,000 including 6,950 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 5,192,782 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 8,219 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 1,294 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 4,746,707 persons have completed the surveillance period and 432,036 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 19,258,740 samples are available. Out of 19,258,740 the number of samples tested negative stands at 18,917,573 while as 341,167 have tested positive, among them 1,294 persons are active, 335,347 persons have recovered and 4,526 persons have died—(KNO)
