No Passports, Government Jobs for “Anti-Nationals”- Jammu Kashmir Administration

The Jammu Kashmir administration on Sunday issued orders that prohibit passport clearance, no provision of government jobs, among other restraints for people engaging in Anti National behaviour.

The CID Special Branch Kashmir, as per a report by News 18, has directed all its units to deny security clearance to all those involved in law and order issues, stone-throwing and other activities prejudicial to the security of the state.

All evidence including police records will be taken into consideration for this.

Earlier, an amendment by the administration in the Jammu Kashmir Civil Services (Verification of Character and Antecedents) Instructions, 1997 mandated a satisfactory CID report in order to get a government job.

The in-service employees requiring re-verification from the CID will include the details of one’s postings and promotions since the date of appointment besides details of jobs of one’s parents, spouse, children and step-children, parents-in-law, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, the amendment stated.

In 2020, the Central cabinet approved the Jammu Kashmir Adaptation of State Laws, 2020 issued under section 96 of Jammu Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

According to the new rules, a person residing in Jammu Kashmir for at least 15 years can be considered to be a domicile of the region and get rights to land, jobs and other benefits.
